The 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid is a midsize family car that is a featured packed vehicle that gets outstanding gas mileage, emits extremely low harmful emissions and has a lot of interior space. It is a hatchback utility vehicle that sells for a reasonable price starting at $21,725 msrp.
The Toyota hybrid Synergy Drive comes standard with a 1.5 liter gasoline engine and two electric motors on the 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid. The gasoline engine can produce up to 76 horsepower with 82 foot pounds of torque and the electric motors can produce up to 67 horsepower with 295 foot pounds of torque. Together they produce a sustainable 110 horsepower with smooth delivery from stopped to full power.
The 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid has a planetary gear set that works in conjunction with a power split device to provide the functionality of a transmission. To the driver is appears to work like an automatic transmission but there are no gears to shift. This setup can provide maximum fuel and energy efficiency. While rated at 61 mpg city and 51 highway, the real world mileage is closer to 45 mpg.
The 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid has enough room to easily seat four adults comfortably and even tall passengers have enough leg room in the rear seats even though the vehicle is a little smaller than other mid-sized sedans. It has an innovative automatic climate control system that is totally operated by electricity which means the air conditioning works even when the gasoline engine is shut off…a really nice feature on those hot summer days in stop and go traffic when the car is running totally on the electric engines. It has a humidity sensor and smart programming so that the air conditioner only runs when necessary to conserve energy. Just put it in auto mode year round and completely forget about it and get the maximum fuel efficiency.
The 2006 Toyota Prius Hybrid had a 16.1 cubic foot cargo area so there is nearly as much room in the trunk as in the larger sedans. The hatchback design makes loading cargo easy. This is a solidly built family car with the quality and reliability you normally expect from Toyota. The great features and long list of options such as a backup camera, tire pressure monitor, mini-jack port and voice command system that permits voice control of features ranging from temperature adjustment to Bluetooth cell phone dialing coupled with its low base price make the 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid a very attractive buy.
The 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid earned four star rating in all government
safety tests except the front impact test where it earned a five star
rating. Its biggest down side is speed. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in
10.4 seconds which is not going to win any races. However, for the kind
of driving the average person does, there is more than enough power to
get around. The continuous variable transmission (CVT) will take some
getting used to for most drivers but is does make the most efficient use
of the 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid drive train. The car is quiet and has
a comfortably soft suspension providing a nice ride for passengers.
